Transfer to Kolymbari – A Traditional Cretan Village

This little Cretan village, surrounded by olive groves and the sea, has already entered the orbit of tourism development since some hotels-resorts have been built here.

However, Kolymvari still remains a quiet and picturesque traditional village.

If you stay in Kolymbari for your summer holidays, a pebbled beach that extends eastwards up to the Tavronitis area, and a sea with crystal clear waters, awaits you.

Of course, you will not struggle to find cafes and taverns in the village and next to the sea, while…

The waterfront and the jetty of the new harbor, which encloses the oldest small harbor with the fishing boats, is ideal for a stroll in the afternoon, overlooking the blue of the sea, on one side, and on the other, the hills and the mountains of Rodopos peninsula, rising behind the house roofs.

Just to the north of Kolimbari’s harbor, two building complexes will spark your interest. You can continue your walk up there.

It is about the historic monastery of Gonia, which has always been a beacon of Orthodoxy, as well as the Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC), which is a very important religious and spiritual foundation of the Archdiocese of Crete.
